FTAP~SVP Publishing
History
The company started in 2014 when
Francis Tom A. Paredes accomplished the copyright for his first book entitled
Sinurigao: Pormada, Tunada, Plasatada, Pasabot. He then decided to have his own
publishing instead of having his magnum opus published by other publishing
house. From the first edition of Sinurigao, they published its fourth edition in
April 2016. The research paper of the said book has been presented in various
language and linguistics conferences like 12th Philippine Linguistics
Conference by the UP Diliman, 2nd Sanrokan by Romblon State
University, 2nd International Paper Presentation on Language and
Linguistics together with his paper on Language Used by Aspirants in the 2016
SSG Elections: English or Mother Tongue? by University of Southeastern
Philippines, 9th Free Linguistics Conference by the Linguistics
Society of the Philippines and Dela Salle Univeristy, Asian Conference on
Multidisciplinary Research for Higher Education by IAMURE, and Language Kultura
and Integration of Technology (LangKIT2016) with their paper of his wife
entitled Ako Unta is not equal to I hope: Understanding Sinurigao Modals by the
Mindanao State Univeristy, Marawi City.
His paper entitled Impact of Mother
Tongue-Based Language of Instruction in Learning English Grammar was presented
in 11th International Conference on Bilingual Studies by Chiang Kai Shek University in February 2015 and published in their journal,
and the same paper was accepted for presentation in the 2016 Linguistics Society of the Philippines National Conference and General Meeting and will be presented for poster presentation at the Applied
Linguistics and Language Teaching by the National Taiwan University for Science
and Technology, Taipei, Taiwan, ROC on April 14-15, 2016.
In March 2016, Mr. Norberto G.
Betita, MBA pmed FTAP on publishing and printing his magnum opus entitled To
Never Give Up. The deal was closed. At the same moment, FTAP after learning
from Betita’s layout, had his autobiography entitled Titot nan Surigao printed
and published.
The humble of beginnings of
FTAP-SVP Publishing was not to earn much money but to help the Surigaonons
intellectualize and strengthen their Sinurigao by publishing books of language
and literary arts the way the authors wrote it. No edits to preserve the
intellectual rights of the authors who enthusiastically contributed to the
products of the company.
The company continues to serve the
Surigaonons in various places with a team of four, Ranzi Sean, Alvin, Sheila
and Titot.
Objectives:
1. Help the
Surigaonons intellectualize and strengthen their Sinurigao;
2. Help
Surigaonon authors print and publish their magnum opus at a reasonable and
marketable price.
